This Baja Bug is owner Darryl Schroeder’s personal ride, and it showcases a slightly different segment of his automotive obsession. Although hot rods, customs, and muscle cars make up the majority of customer rides that roll through the shop, Darryl’s passion for ingenuity and engineering don’t stop where the pavement ends.
Darryl began this project with a low-rider V-dub, and very little of the original car remains. Now turbo Subaru-powered, the buggy was built to be thrashed on, and it’s routinely beaten on like a rented mule. The hand-built, round-tube chassis sports a host of high-end goodies, but continues to be a work in progress.
